Q - Do all family members have to ride the same route?
A - Yes. An adult must ride with any accompanying minors. Two related adults may register separately if they wish to ride different routes.
Q - How does the Team Discount Work?
A - This year we are offering a discount of $5 per rider for teams of 8 or more. The team captain should email register@tierrabella.org to get a discount code for registration. Please only distribute the code to your team members; do not post the code on your team website or social networks.
We welcome teams with both individual
and family registrations; family registrations will receive the same total
discount as individual registrations. Team members do not have to ride together
or do the same route.
Each team member should enter their team discount code at the Payment
Method step prior to payment, as shown in the screenshot below:
Teams that do not reach the minimum team size will be asked to pay the full registration fee .
Q - Do I get an information
packet?
A - About a week before the event, a packet with route sheets and wrist bands for each rider will be mailed to those who have registered and paid by April 7, 2023. Each Rider must wear a Tierra Bella wristband for SAG services, admission to the rest stops and for the hot meal service following the ride. Riders who do not receive their packet by mail will need to pick it up on the day of our event near the Gavilan College Student Center between 6:30 AM and 9:30 AM. To ensure that everyone who pre-purchased a meal is able to be served, limited meals may be purchased after 4:30pm at the event.
Q - How many riders are accepted?
A - Registration is limited to 1,500 riders.
Q - How late can I register?

Q - Can minors register?
A - Minors must be registered on the application of a paying adult (age 18+) who is their parent or legal guardian. The minor must also carry a signed medical release and ride in the company of parent or guardian.
Q - Can I transfer my registration?
A - If you are registered and paid you can transfer your registration to another person without cost. Please email register@tierrabella.org with the name of the new rider and your registration ID and have the new rider complete a new registration online, checking "transfer" for the payment option. An email will be sent to the new rider validating the transfer.
If this procedure is completed three weeks prior to the event, the new rider will receive the route sheet and wristband credentials in the mail. If a transfer is not made at least two days beforehand, please have the new rider bring a paper copy of the authorization to the help desk on the morning of the ride to fill out a registration and pick up these materials.
Q - Can I cancel my registration?
If you must cancel your registration, please email register@tierrabella.org with your registration information. Cancellations will be refunded minus a per-rider cancellation fee depending upon the date.

Q - Where is the Tour held?
A - All routes start at Gavilan College, 5055 Santa Teresa Blvd, Gilroy, CA 95020. Please follow our staff to Tierra Bella's assigned parking lots. Gavilan College enforces California Vehicle code with respect to marked handicap parking spaces - violations are subject to fine.
Please double-check your GPS directions! Gavilan College recently added a new campus on Bailey Road. Please show up to the main campus on Santa Teresa Blvd, Gilroy to start the ride.
Teams arriving in more than one vehicle should plan to meet at the start. Cars arriving one behind the other may be directed into different parking lots in order to get everyone parked quickly and out on the course.
Q - What routes are there?

Q - What time may I start riding?
A - Please plan to start your ride according to the following schedule:
100 Mile, all options | 7:00 to 8:00 AM |
77 Mile / Gilroy Hot Springs | 7:30 to 8:30 AM |
55 Mile / Coyote Valley | 8:00 to 9:00 AM |
33 Mile / Short route | 9:00 to 10:00 AM |
The course closes at 5:00 PM. Riders must start and finish during this interval. Rest stop cut-off times listed on the route sheet will be strictly observed.
Q - What is the latest time that I can start riding?
A - Please check the start times above. If you start later you risk finding rest stops closed.
Q - If I sign up for one route can I change my mind on the day of the ride?
A - Yes. Routesheets and Ride with GPS links for all routes will be made available.
Q - What kind of bike will I need?
A - We recommend a well-maintained multi-speed bicycle.
Q - Do you have mechanical/bicycle repair support?
A - We have mechanical support from volunteer mechanics and local bicycle shops (details subject to change).
Q - May I ride an e-bike?
A - Class 1 and 3 e-bikes (pedal assist only) are welcome on Tierra Bella. Our insurance does not permit Class 2 (throttle assist) e-bikes.
Q - Is there a hot meal at the end of the tour?
A - Yes, meals are available for advance purchase for both riders and guests during registration. Meals will be served to riders and guests who have purchased meals outside the Student Center at Gavilan College, 11:30am to 5:30pm.
For 2023, we plan to serve a new Southern Picnic menu with: Chicken quarters, keilbasa, or vegan sausage, potato salad, corn on the cob, baked beans and japaleno cornbread. Dessert will be brownies and vanilla, chocolate and strawberry ice cream.
Meals must be ordered prior to the ride (by April 8, 2023) so we can confirm quantities with our caterer. To ensure that everyone who pre-purchased a meal is able to be served, limited meals may be purchased after 4:30pm at the event.
Additional meals for non-riders may be purchased during registration. Please note that Gavilan College enforces a no-alcohol policy on campus.Q - Are there campgrounds or motels nearby?

Note that neither RV parking nor overnight camping are allowed at Gavilan College the weekend of the Tierra Bella.Q - Are showers available after the ride?
A - No, you may be able to make arrangements with the motel at which you stayed overnight.
Q - Is there SAG support?
A - Yes, all routes are patrolled by SAG vehicles. When the course closes at 5pm any riders still on the course will be picked up by SAG and transported to Gavilan College.
Q - What if I forget to pick up my t-shirt order?
A - If you forget to pick up your t-shirt we can mail them to your home after the event. To pay electronically, please contact us to get a payment link or send us your confirmation number along with a check payable to: Almaden Cycle Touring Club, PO Box 6747, San Jose, CA 95150. Shipping charges are $8 per shirt.
Payments must be received by May 20 and t-shirts will be shipped on May 22.Q - What is Tierra Bella doing to address COVID-19?
A - Pandemic Safety procedures
Due to the continuing presence of the COVID virus in the community, the Tierra Bella Century staff is taking several steps to mitigate any chance of the spread of the virus during our event should it be present.
Most importantly, for the safety of the riders and the volunteer staff, we encourage all riders to be vaccinated. Since we understand that not everyone will abide by this recommendation, we will put in place procedures to minimize infection risks.
Therefore, the Tierra Bella volunteers will strive to practice good hygiene procedures with food and water to minimize the risk of virus transmission and we ask riders assist the volunteers by complying with these procedures.
